Senior Java Support Engineer L3 (México, Remote)

YOUR ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Production Support (L3) engineer to join our team and take responsibility for the day-to-day operational support, maintenance, and optimization of production systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java development, specifically with Spring Boot applications, and be proficient in production support activities including debugging, incident management, and proactive monitoring. You will play a key role in ensuring the stability and performance of mission-critical applications in a cloud-based environment, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Support & Incident Management: Provide high-level (L3) production support for Java-based applications, ensuring issues are identified, diagnosed, and resolved in a timely manner. Lead the response to production incidents and troubleshoot complex issues across various environments.
  • Java Development & Debugging: Assist with debugging and fixing issues in Spring Boot applications, including integration with various backend systems and databases. Develop solutions to mitigate recurring production problems.
  • Monitoring & Alerts: Leverage tools like AppDynamics (AppD), Grafana, and Splunk for proactive monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting. Build and maintain monitoring dashboards to ensure system health and performance.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Support (AWS): Manage and troubleshoot production environments hosted on AWS. Work with AWS services including ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and CloudWatch to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • ServiceNow Integration: Utilize ServiceNow for incident management, request fulfillment, and ticket tracking. Ensure proper documentation and resolution of incidents and escalations in accordance with SLAs.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Conduct root cause analysis for major production incidents, document findings, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaboration & Reporting: Collaborate with development, QA, and infrastructure teams to identify areas for improvement, optimize application performance, and implement changes in production environments. Provide timely updates and reports on system performance and incidents.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Good conversational English (C1, C2)
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or relevant field
  • 6+ years of professional experience relevant to the position
  • Java & Spring Boot: Good experience with Java and Spring Boot frameworks. Hands-on experience in developing and debugging Java-based applications in a production environment.
  • REST API: Experience in building, maintaining, and troubleshooting RESTful APIs. Knowledge of API integration and communication patterns.
  • Splunk Knowledge: Proficient in using Splunk for logging, monitoring, and creating dashboards. Experience with setting up alerts for production systems and troubleshooting logs for issue resolution.
  • IDE Proficiency: Familiarity with IDEs such as Eclipse or IntelliJ IDEA for Java development and debugging.
  • Production Support: Proven experience in production support roles, including incident response, issue tracking, and SLA adherence. Experience in ServiceNow for ticket management is highly preferred.
  • Application Monitoring Tools: Experience working with application monitoring tools like AppDynamics, Grafana, and Splunk Dashboards to monitor system health and track application performance metrics.
  • Cloud Infrastructure (AWS): Strong knowledge of AWS services including ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and CloudWatch. Experience managing cloud environments, troubleshooting cloud-based applications, and optimizing cloud resources.
  • Problem Solving & Debugging: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in a production environment.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with various teams, document processes, and report on incidents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DevOps Practices: Experience working in a DevOps environment with knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control systems like Git, and automation tools like Jenkins or Terraform.
  • Agile Methodology: Experience working in an Agile development environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Database Knowledge: Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
