Let us talk about the roles and responsibilities:
As an Infrastructure Architect, you will play a key role in customer engagements, collaborating with lead data consultants to design and implement robust data platform solutions on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role requires a mix of solution architecture expertise, hands-on coding, and the ability to guide and upskill customer engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a key Cloud Engineer for customer projects.
- Collaborate with the Lead Data Consultant to design and define solution architecture.
- Develop detailed designs for data platforms on GCP (greenfield solutions and migrations).
- Perform hands-on coding to build and implement solutions.
- Partner with customer data engineering teams to provide guidance, solution recommendations, and support.
- Conduct pair programming with customer engineers and facilitate knowledge transfer.
- Define solutions for:
- Batch ingestion/processing of data (files, cloud/on-prem databases).
- Real-time streaming solutions (log analytics, clickstream analytics, etc.).
- Build data pipelines and CI/CD pipelines.
Solution Architecture Expertise:
- Design data platform solutions for:
- Migrations from open-source/public cloud data platforms to GCP.
- Greenfield implementations of data platforms on cloud.
- Research to evaluate tools and technologies, recommend appropriate solutions, and justify technology selection.
- Define architecture and detailed design for:
- Batch ingestion and processing of data from sources such as files, cloud, and on-prem databases.
- Streaming solutions for real-time data ingestion and analytics (e.g., log analytics, click-stream data).
- Build scalable data pipelines and CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated in-depth expertise in at least one public cloud, preferably GCP.
- Hands-on experience with:
- GCP tools: Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer, BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Spanner, CloudBuild, Vertex AI, Terraform.
- Proficiency in building solutions using programming languages:
- Python and/or Java (willingness to be hands-on is essential).
- Experience with open-source ecosystems and distributions such as Hadoop, Spark, or Cloudera/Hortonworks.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., HBASE, MongoDB).
- Hands-on experience with other public clouds (AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge of open-source frameworks like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, HBASE, Oozie.
- GCP Data Engineering Certification (preferred).
- AWS Certifications related to data engineering or infrastructure.
- Experience working in large enterprise environments, managing architectural review processes, and navigating complex approval frameworks.
- Proven ability to lobby design submissions and engage cross-functional stakeholders.
- Preferred experience with one of the Big Four Australian Banks.
