The Engagement Manager is one of the key roles on a project. The Engagement Manager is:
“Accountable and Responsible for: delivering against contracts, meeting (or exceeding) Client expectations, achieving Engagement Targets, identifying and actioning opportunities for additional business, and ensuring that the Project Management Rules are followed on the engagement.”
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your role
The Engagement Managers key responsibilities include:
- Ensure 100% Compliancy with UK UPM, UK Project Management Rules and UK Mandatory Requirements
- Delivering against the contract: Conversant with the contract, managing the contracts and the change control process.
- Overall responsibility for engagement success and achieving engagement targets e.g. margin (as defined in the Internal View) and delivering to agreed timescales.
- Management of the engagement through its lifecycle: Specifically, the project baseline, Risks and Issues in Pre project start-up, start-up, execution and closedown.
- Management of the monthly financial reporting process including preparation of the ‘Monthly’ Engagement Status in e-Monitoring, attendance at the M Review, management of Client invoicing and supplier payments.
- Ensure the local mandated methods and tools are utilised e.g: UK UPM, e-Monitoring and e-Collaborative.
- Timely raising and effective management of Security and Data Protection Incidents and Breaches should they occur.
Your skills and experience
An Engagement Manager should demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Thorough understanding of methods and tools
- Development of resourced based project plans and tracking of project plans, using a standard scheduling tool e.g. MS Project / Open Workbench
- Leadership and motivational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong influencing skills and conflict resolution skills with analytical problem solving and structured thinking.
- Ability to identify, manage and mitigate project risks, manage and resolve project issues, manage Client obligations, understand the detail and manage the project’s finances and manage internal and external project dependencies.
- Consistent accurate management of project scope via the Change Control process, escalation of project issues and risks in a timely manner. Effective supplier management e.g. selecting suppliers, developing supplier agreements, managing supplier performance and delivery and ability to mentor and coach project resources
.It is expected that Engagement Managers will have demonstrated successfully the following:
- Years of Oracle full lifecycle implementation experience
- Experience of requirements identification, design, build and implementation.
- Experience of managing custom build and/or ERP/Package engagements (e.g. SAP, Oracle) through requirements definition, design, build, test and implementation.
Your security clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.
To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements.
Throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
