MGSE & Tooling Engineer - Stevenage - Hybrid
If you are an experienced Mechanical and Physical engineer, specialising in tooling engineering, this opportunity might be perfect for you.
This role involves the development and application of engineering practice and knowledge in the following technologies: Design of mechanical systems, devices, equipment and machines; installing and maintaining mechanically functioning equipment; simulating a wide range of interactions and evaluating performance in real world scenarios. Developing prototype for manufacturability, testing and validation is also a big part this role.
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your Role
As an MGSE & Tolling engineer your day to day will involve the following:
- Definition, design responsibility and supply of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) and tooling to support the manufacture, test, mechanical handling and delivery of satellite/spacecraft structures.
- Provision of estimates and schedules and thereafter the control of the design, structural analysis, supplier selection, manufacturing reviews and acceptance/qualification testing.
- Developing and building relationships both internally and externally and working as part of a small team
- Responsibility for the delivery of equipment to internal customers to meet Quality, Cost & Schedule needs
- Creating technical reports to cover the design specification, use and safety/legislative aspect of supplied equipment.

Your skills and experience
- Ability to deliver multiple tasks to set time frames with minimal supervision
- Ability to organise and manage own workload
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
- Degree/HNC or equivalent in an Engineering related discipline or sufficient relevant experience.
- Appreciation of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment and/or Precision Tooling manufacture and supply.
- Time served in engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications.
- Experience in dealing with both customers and suppliers, ideally the Space/Aerospace industry, however other manufacturing sectors or general mechanical / project engineering backgrounds can be considered.
- Experienced in technical documentation writing
- Ability to learn and use company systems and software including standard Microsoft office products.
- A good understanding of MGSE and close tolerance tooling manufacture and design philosophies
- Experience of PDM systems, such as Windchill

Your security clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.
