We are seeking an experienced Deputy head of Tax with a strong knowledge of all areas of UK tax. This role will include some travel to London or Woking.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Your Role
- Overall responsibility for UK tax compliance filings (some prepared in-house an some externally prepared), encompassing Corporation Tax, VAT and limited Employment Tax filings (share scheme reporting and PSA filing). Provision of support to other junior team members as required.
- Responsible for UK & Ireland region cash tax forecasting and reporting, reporting directly to the Group cash management team.
- Review of UK tax reporting within the global reporting tool (4-5 times per year). Provision of support to other junior team members as required.
- Providing UK tax advice to the business. This involves building relationships with the commercial teams, in order to give commercially considered and prompt tax advice in respect of global customer contracts, often in conjunction with the international mobility team..
- Where possible, identify and implement process improvements across the compliance cycle, with a focus on readiness for MTD for corporation tax - experience of tax transformation beneficial.
Your skills and experience
- Qualified ACA/CTA with significant post-qualification experience in an in-house tax setting.
- Attention to detail with proven experience of managing multiple workstreams and taking ownership of task completion.
- Excellent relationship building and business partnering skills, with demonstrated ability of understanding the impact of tax workstreams on the commercial organisation.
- Excellent tax technical skills, with a core focus on commercial advisory work
- Microsoft Excel skills to a good standard (e.g. competent in pivot tables, vlookup, “IF” formulae etc)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to form strong relationships with key stakeholders, including HMRC, Group Tax and external advisors, as well as the ability to articulate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals
- An ability to and desire to keep up to date with changes in the tax arena and to communicate these across a variety of stakeholders
Your security clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.
There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required.
There are other criteria and check required for BPSS, and throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
