Capgemini Engineering is looking to hire 3 talented Principal-level Systems Engineers with extensive Landing Gear experience to join our flagship team. You will be coming in from the start, helping to shape and mold our Landing Gear Capabilities and provide end-to-end products to various clients throughout the aerospace sector.

Your Role

  • To lead and undertake Engineering activities covering a broad variety of Landing Gear Systems & Equipment Engineering tasks, delivering integrated technical solutions related to landing gear structure, braking, steering, extension, and retraction systems.
  • To ensure all engineering activities are in line with cascaded requirements and verified to demonstrate compliance with applicable airworthiness regulations and design requirements.
  • Experience in leading and driving system/equipment related modifications from initial definition to certification.
  • Lead complex activities covering all parts of equipment development, covering both Systems and Equipment tasks.
  • Ability to lead a project team of mid-level/junior engineers interfacing to ensure the development of an integrated technical solution.
  • Ensuring adherence to budget and schedule for each task managing and mitigating risks/opportunities and communicating in a timely manner.
  • Provide a responsive, customer focused service to external and internal clients.
  • Interface with external customers/suppliers on technical aspects and instill confidence on leading technical solutions.
  • Conducting technical investigations and root cause analysis to ensure project technical performance.
  • Develop technical solutions and recommendations for in-service issues and create value for our client.
  • Modifications/Improvements to existing Landing Gear Structure and Systems Equipment’s.
  • Assessment of supplier documentation to support certification activities.
  • Participate actively in design reviews.
  • Support Validation and Verification activities using DOORS.
  • Prepare technical reports to show compliance to the applicable certification requirements.
  • Create design office documentation such as technical reports, specification requirements, test procedures and certification documents.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to production and flight tests.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to Customer Services Engineering and Product Safety.
  • Assess T&E plans/procedures and improve/amend where required System and sub-system-level requirements management and generation of system/sub-system-level specifications for the Main and Nose Gear, Wheel, Tyre and Brake as required by the program.

So, what do you need?

  • A basic awareness of Aircraft and Aircraft System Qualification and Certification.
  • Full V-cycle development (from feasibility study until certification)
  • Experienced in DOORS updates.
  • Knowledge of the following aerospace standards: ARP4754, ARP4761 DO160,
  • DO178, DO254, AFDX, ARINC 429
  • Knowledge in aircraft systems: especially Hydraulics, Fluid Mechanics is added advantage.
  • Knowledge on Landing Gear focusing on Breaking; Steering Control System.
  • System engineering focusing on V&V tasks.
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills.
  • Working on Airbus Family Aircraft – familiar with Airbus process & methodology.
  • Experience in the use of one or more of the following designs, or modelling/simulation or requirements capture applications would be advantageous:
  • Catia V5, MSC ADAMS, MALAB, Simulink or IBM DOORS

Your Security Clearance

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS)​

To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks. ​

There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required.​

There are other criteria and checks required for BPSS, and throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
