About the job you're considering

This is a critical role covering the Cyber Security of the client digital estate. Incumbents will be required to carry out Incident Response to analyse and manage cyber security events in defence of the clients core network. They will be responsible for ensuring clients networks and systems are maintained and monitored from a security perspective.

Your role

Provide 24/7 capability to manage through the event/incident life cycle (triage, assess, initiate, manage, progress and resolve) activities in response to the following types of security incident:

  • Account-Suspension
  • Device-Access-Restriction
  • Malicious-Software
  • Password-Reset
  • Antivirus
  • Email-Phishing-Spam-Virus
  • Lost / Stolen Devices
  • Vulnerabilities / Patches
  • Other to be identified as new capabilities are brought into service.

Responsible for daily operational threat detection and initial analysis of information security events on the SIEM console. This includes:

  • Investigate suspicious security events.
  • Perform trending and subtle event analysis.
  • Monitor dashboards and reports.
  • Escalates security events to appropriate owners/teams.

Operating on both the ‘Official Sensitive’ & ‘Secret’ tiers, triage, analyse, and manage cyber security events in defence of the clients core network and future cloud environments.

Provide analytic feedback to the Detection Engineering team to enable continual development and improvement of customer analytics.

Notify designated managers, cyber incident responders, and cybersecurity service provider team members of suspected cyber incidents and articulate the event's history, status, and potential impact for further action by the organization's cyber incident response plan and identify and report any identified trend or TTP from incidents to influence Detection Engineering and Threat Intelligence.

Your skills and experience

  • You should have degree level/SANS or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Cloud environments and Security Operating Centre (SOC) environments
  • Experience in a wide breadth of operational CIS and security must have the technical capability to understand, manage, and advise how to deal with technically complex cyber events and incidents.
  • Must be able to translate technically complex situations into operational impacts to be briefed from OR4–OF4. Must be able to influence senior stakeholders early in a project's life cycle
  • Strong knowledge of ITSM tooling – e.g. Remedy, ServiceNow, HPSM9 and calm under pressure, with a flexible, can-do attitude

Developed Vetting (DV)

To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
To obtain DV clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 10 years, along with other very detailed criteria and requirements.
Throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
