The Role

We’re looking for a talented Insight Engineer to join our growing data team within a fast‑paced taxi and payments business. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, and emerging AI, playing a critical part in turning complex data into trusted, actionable insights that support smarter business decisions.

Working closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and data scientists, you’ll design and deliver scalable data pipelines, translate business needs into robust data models, and enable advanced analytics and AI use cases. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role where your work will directly influence how the business operates, grows, and innovates.

What you’ll be doing

• Design, build, and maintain scalable Azure data pipelines and platforms across Data Factory, Synapse, and Data Lake
• Develop and optimise data models supporting data warehouse, big data, and Data Vault architectures
• Deliver reliable batch and streaming data solutions, ensuring high data quality and performance
• Translate business requirements into curated datasets and semantic layers that power reporting, analytics, and decision‑making
• Partner closely with stakeholders to generate actionable insights from complex datasets such as payments, trips, and customer behaviour
• Implement CI/CD and infrastructure‑as‑code practices to improve reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency
• Support emerging AI and advanced analytics use cases, working with data scientists on feature engineering and model deployment (where applicable).

About you

We’re looking for an experienced Insight Engineer who has operated within enterprise‑scale organisations, managing complex data environments and working across multiple stakeholders. Our ideal candidate brings experience in data or analytics engineering, with strong hands‑on expertise across the Azure data stack and a solid grounding in data warehousing, data modelling, and ETL/ELT best practices. You’re comfortable working with high‑volume, business‑critical data, translating insight requirements into robust technical solutions, and partnering closely with the business to deliver reliable, scalable outcomes.

Skills and experience

Required

• 5–7+ years experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or insight engineering roles
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure data stack:
• Azure Data Factory
• Azure Synapse Analytics
• Azure Data Lake
• Solid understanding of:
• Data warehousing concepts (star schema, dimensional modelling)
• Big data processing frameworks
• Data Vault modelling
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, Stored procedure, PowerShell,
• Experience with real-time/streaming data (e.g., Kafka, Event Hubs)
• At least one programming language (Python preferred)
• Experience building and maintaining robust ETL/ELT pipelines
• Strong understanding of business data and ability to translate insight requirements into technical solutions
